A New Look

Don't Fear The Facelift

If your face isn't what it used to be and you are tired of seeing wrinkles and sagging every time you look in the mirror, you've probably thought about getting a facelift. But maybe you then shrugged the idea off because you've heard that facelifts are dangerous, painful, and vain. It's time to rethink those assumptions. Don't fear the facelift; the procedure has come a long way in recent years, and there are a few good reasons why you should seriously consider getting one if you're unhappy with your aging appearance.

Reason #1: Mini facelifts are now very common.

Gone are the days when getting a facelift meant having an incision all along both sides of your face. Cosmetic surgeons now usually prefer a procedure called a mini facelift, which involves making two small incisions just above your ears. This results in a shorter healing time and a lot less pain.

Reason #2: Your results can be as dramatic or as natural as you like.

If you're picturing celebrities who have had obvious facelifts and do not want to look like that, then here's the good news: you won't. If you want that overly tight appearance, your cosmetic surgeon can give it to you — but most people want a far more natural look, and that's just as easy to achieve. You can get a facelift that has people thinking "wow, they look great!" not "wow, they definitely had surgery!"

Reason #3: Scars will be well-hidden.

If you're worried about obvious scars, don't be. For one, the scars are much smaller today thanks to the use of the mini facelift procedure. Second, the scars are usually well hidden in your hairline. Nobody will see them unless they go looking for them. Your hairstylist may know you've had a facelift, but the general public won't.

Reason #4: It's better to do something early.

If you think there's a chance you may want a facelift, it is better to have one a little earlier rather than wait another 10 years. The younger you are, the more flexible your skin is and the better it heals. If you need a touch-up later on, the procedure will be simpler than if you simply wait.

Facelifts are not as scary as you might think. Meet with a cosmetic surgeon to discuss your goals and see what surgical procedures are likely to yield the results you desire.
