Got Deep Wrinkles? 2 Treatment Options

If you have deep wrinkles on your face, there are different types of treatment that you can have to help with this problem. Below is information about two treatments a doctor can offer you so you can decide what you would like to do.

Facial Filler Treatment

Facial fillers can soften deep wrinkles in different areas of your face. Depending on the type of filler you have, you will have to go back and get the filler again to keep the wrinkles away. How long it lasts will depend on the type of wrinkles you have. You can have the procedure done in the doctor's office and can go home the same day. You will be given local anesthesia to prevent pain. If you still see wrinkling a few days after the treatment, the doctor can give you a touch-up Botox injection.

You might have mild discomfort, bruising, and swelling for up to a week. You can then see the full results of the filler treatment. There are different types of fillers available. One common type is hyaluronic acid and the results of this may last up to one year. There is also fat grafting available. With this, the doctor removes fat from an area of your body using a procedure called liposuction. The fat is injected into the wrinkled area. This does take more than one treatment but sometimes it will be permanent.

Botox

Botox injections are commonly used to treat deep wrinkles. With this, the Botox is injected into the wrinkled area. Once injected, it freezes the muscles that are causing the wrinkles. Like fillers, this can be done in the doctor's office, and you can go home the same day. The doctor will rub a cream on the area that will numb your skin before they give you the injections. The doctor will tell you if you need to avoid activities right after your treatment and for how long.

The results are not immediate, and you will start noticing a difference in about a week. This will wear off in a few months, and you will have to have the Botox injections again to keep the wrinkles away. This is because, over time, the Botox breaks down and the muscles start to relax again making the wrinkles reappear.

Some side effects you may have after the injection include headaches and redness and/or bruising where you were injected. If you had Botox injections near your eyes, you may have eye redness, or your eyes may tear or feel irritated. All these side effects will go away shortly after the treatment.

Talk with a dermatologist to learn much more about these treatments, as well as other treatments, like Restylane filler, you can have for wrinkles.
